UPDATE: Ray's funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 13th, at 2:30 PM. The service will be at the Church of Recessional at Forrest Lawn, 1712 S. Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205. The family welcomes anyone who would like to join in on the celebration of Ray's life.
As many of you know, Blake, Alyssa and Chris’ father (Ray Lee aka “Big Ray”) died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, August 2nd of a heart attack. Those of you who know the Lee family know that Ray suffered a major stroke 9 years ago that left him with a 3% survival rate. Over the last 9 years, Ray struggled significantly to regain normal function of his mind and body. He fought hard every day, and every year and he became more and more like his old self. Ray was getting his life back together in San Jose, where he moved one year ago for work. Unfortunately, Ray's untimely death has left the family with immediate financial difficulties, as he passed away without any life insurance.
I am starting this GoFundMe to help the Lee family pay expenses such as funeral costs, settling debts/payments, and most importantly, getting Chris off to George Washington University, where he will be playing water polo and starting his freshman year of college in less than two weeks. The Lees relied on Ray’s income to make payments for college expenses. More than anything, Blake and Alyssa want Chris to get the education their father dreamed he would have.
The loss of a parent is debilitating and overwhelming, and a financial burden. Any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated (prayers included!). We would like to thank all families, individuals, and friends who have reached out over the past few days. Blake and his siblings are so humbled by the outpouring of love and support they have already received!
