The Belize Friends School

Hi everyone! This summer, Hollis and I will be volunteering at the Belize Friends School in Belize City as summer school teachers. Both of us had the privilege of traveling to Belize this past Janurary where we assisted students with reading and math and acted as peer mentors. We will be going back this June to continue the work that we started. The Belize Friends School acts as a second chance school for studens ages 10-16 and helps them prepare to take a test to be accepted into High School. Without this school, many of these students would have no alternative source of education and would face potential initiation into gangs as well as homelessness.  Sadly, the school is not widely funded and lacks in resources essential to the student's learning as well as general budgeting for property managament and salaries. While we will be able to provide our time and dedication to the school, we would also like to provide donations. All proceeds will go directly to the principal of the school who will then manage the funds accordingly. For example, the money may be used for meals, books, school trips, school supplies, uniforms etc.
We leave June 15 and return August 15. Any donation is greatly appreciated and we will keep you posted on what the funds go to! Thank you!!!! Please spread the word!
