Roman and Dukhovnyy Legal Defense

I, Israel Roman, a TWU member in good standing, worked for the TA for 17 years and my collogue, Aleksandr Dukhovnyy, were both fired by TA management for blatantly political reasons. I myself am a well-known union activist and shop steward and was for many years an elected officer of the union. Dukhovnyy, among many other things, identified and brought to the management’s attention many procedural problems that impacted on the quality of work produced by the shop in which he worked – in short, he was a whistleblower.
In June of 2017, both I and Dukhovnyy were fired without cause.
This is unprecedented; No charges, No hearings, No due process - Why?
Contractual grievances were submitted but the NYCT has refused to schedule hearings and rather than contest this TWU 100 just e-mailed the following, "We'll consultant with our attorneys regarding your options going forward.”
With the help of active and retired TWU 100 members we have, and will continue, to fight NYCT’s illegal termination and TWU's 100 failure to hold NYCT accountable for the "at will" treatment of dues paying members.
By kicking off this campaign we are seeking to provide a way that everybody who reads this can contribute to this legal fund. We need support not only for our own legal expenses but to cover what we see to be a very broad action in the near future. An action that many more people might benefit from.
