     UPDATE       30/04/2019

We have a 14 month old Syrian child who suffered burns 2 days ago, and is fairly unwell without basic support.  She needs advanced medical care and hospital admission to treat her injuries. We  have found a hospital in Lebanon that will accept her,  the UNHCR have agreed to pay 75% of the medical costs; family were unable to afford the costs hence the delay already. It costs approximately $1000 a night to admit a child to the intensive care unit. If anyone can support her with very basic donations it will be appreciated.

All previous donations have been directed towards the maintenance and running of the mobile medical clinic and training programmes, any money raised for the care of this child will go directly towards paying her hospital bills.

So far we have raised $2000 to support this childs care

Endless Medical Advantage is the only Syrian led mobile health clinic in Lebanon. We are currently working across the western and central areas of the Bekaa Valley. The latest estimates suggest that 339,000 Syrian refugees are currently living in the Bekaa valley, approximately 70% of them report lack of access to basic healthcare due to financial constraints (UNHCR figures October 2018). As the weather gets colder and the conditions in the camps continue to deteriorate the need for affordable healthcare increases.

The kind donations to EMA allowed us to convert a van into a mobile health clinic, equipped with: a selection of antibiotics; medications to treat most primary medical conditions; wound dressings; an emergency drugs kit, relevant basic furniture and oxygen etc. This van is now operational. The EMA mobile health clinic provides regular, affordable, and accessible healthcare to 8 camps in the Al Marj and Saadnayel areas (approximately 2,500 people). Over the past 2 months since its creation the EMA has treated over 250 patients, with conditions ranging from infectious diseases to pneumonia; burns; heart disease; urine infections; and the common cold. All services and the medications necessary to treat them are heavily subsidised by EMA.

This organisation is founded and presided by Dr Hadia Aslam (a UK based General practice doctor and Consultant in Refugee health care services), directed by Dr Feras Al Ghadban (a Syrian doctor, currently based in the Beqaa valley, Lebanon), and managed by Ms Raine Astin-Chamberlain from London UK (an emergency department nurse with a specialist interest in relief medicine) to treat the needs of this vulnerable population.

A contribution to this organisation will support our Syrian ground staff in the purchasing of basic medical supplies, medications, maintenance of the vehicle, as well as the provision of professional development training. Any funds kindly donated to this project will be withdrawn by a member of the EMA core team and used to finance the running of the project on the ground in Lebanon.

This project has been established to deliver front line support in one of the worlds most troubled and disrupted environments.  Every contribution will count and help in the effort to restore decent health care provision to a vulnerable population.

We are always grateful.
