On Thursday the 3rd of January, Cormac was  involved in a devastating accident which left him fighting for his life in New Zealand.
Whilst out enjoying his weekend with friends, he fell from a cliff approximately 20m high. Due to the quick actions of his friends who were with him and the fantastic emergency services, Cormac was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he remained in a critical condition for sometime with severe head injuries.
Immediately, his dad flew with his mum and brother following a few days later.
Over 3 weeks later, Cormac is still in hospital but has made some improvements. He has made responses, physically healed very well and every day fights this extremely difficult battle.
Unfortunately, at present the hospital are unable to predict the level of brain damage but everyday we all hope and pray that he will live an independent life again.
As a lot of you will know, Cormac is a fighter and if anyone can get through this and surpass all expectations and predictions, it is him.
Flights out for family members and accommodation is extremely expensive as well as possible future medical needs. This is an extremely long road for Cormac and the level of support he will need is unfortunately unclear.
We all would appreciate any amount of support you can give, large or small to support him and his family.
The level of support received to date in many ways has been absolutely over whelming and we would like to thank everyone for the messages of support and assistance received to date.

Hi everyone,

I had to post an update below for Go Fund me to release funds.
On behalf of my entire family and especially Cormac, we want to thank everyone for their generous donations. It has made a huge difference and taken away some of the financial burden of the accident.
Thankfully, and beyond all odds Cormac is making huge progress. He is officially Christchurch's miracles with medical teams still absolutely blown away and shocked at his progress.
I know we all are extremely proud of Cormac.
All going well we are hoping to have Cormac back home with us in the next 4-5 weeks.
Once back home Cormacs rehab and care will continue with the view of him making a full recovery.
Thanks again to everyone who has supported my family and I through this and all the generous donations.

So this morning I actually spoke to Cormac for the first time!! It was so overwhelming but incredible to actually hear his voice.
He is in the rehabilitation centre at the moment where he will hopefully start rehabilitation over the next few days.
He is doing really well and getting stronger every day.
His short term memory at present isn’t great but we are hoping to work on that over the next few weeks.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated over the past few weeks. It is going to go a long way in helping us support cormac in his road to recovery.

Update 30/01/2019
So Cormacs dad had a meeting with the neurosurgeon that is taking excellent care of him at the moment. She is happy with Cormacs progress after less then 4 weeks but has advised that Cormac completes rehabilitation in New Zealand as the journey home to Ireland may be too stressful and may effect his rehabilitation if there is a break.
