Support Bláthnaid
Our daughter has been diagnosed with Aicardi syndrome. This is a rare genetic malformation characterized by the partial or complete absence of a key structure called the Corpus Callosum, which is the bridge between the two halves of the brain. Symptoms include retinal abnormalities, resulting in varying degrees of visual impairment and seizures in the form of infantile spasms. Aicardi Syndrome affects females primarily 99% of the time, and it has been estimated that there are only 4000 cases of this rare condition worldwide.
Bláthnaid has multiple seizures day and night which cause her severe distress. She has a number of health issues - scoliosis, severe visual impairment and she has drug resistant epilepsy. There are a number of medical professionals involved in her care. Bláthnaid is now four years old and she is our Aicardi warrior. and at present we have received no support from social work. We are hoping to campaign to raise funds for Bláthnaid to help with the needs of caring for Bláthnaid.
Any support is very much appreciated.
