Sugar Hill Cemetery Fund

Donation protected
Sugar Hill Cemetery (aka Tyson Cemetery) has been in existance since around 1880. The earliest readable grave is of Leanord Payne who died in 1882. This is private land maintained by the Tyson, Payne, and Durden families of Rodessa in Caddo Parish, LA.We need funds for keeping the cemetery cut and clean as well as funds for improvements and headstone restoration. It costs $1,500  per year for cutting and cleaning and we are seeking $1,000 more for headstone restoration of some of the oldest graves of former slaves. Pictured here is the first headstone we want to restore. This is the grave of Louisa Dunn Gibson 1831/1901, a slave owned by Noah Tyson of Rodessa. All surplus funds will help towards next years maintanence costs. To see if an ancestor of yours is buried here you can find almost every grave listed at https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GSmcid=47649659&CRid=2181310&pt=Tyson%20Cemetery&
