In order to ensure that this week is absolutely free for student participants, and in order to bring in noted speakers, we require a certain amount of funding. With your help we could achieve our goal! Any amount donated is more than appreciated, and we can't thank you enough for your role in positively impacting the lives of McGill students.

Who We Are:
We are a group of passionate and dedicated McGill students with a common goal to improve mental health among the student population. Mental illness on campus is reaching a near-epidemic level, with an estimated two out of five university students suffering from some form of mental illness. Be it depression, anxiety, bipolar, among many others, mental illness can be debilitating for students, especially in such a demanding environment.

As a student-led initiative, we can use our own experiences to relate to the student body and know what kind of help is needed. Therefore, we are excited to be able to launch a mental health week as a means to promote mental hygiene on campus. The goal of our project is two-fold.

Firstly, we aim to break the stigma that surrounds mental health through several means. We plan on sharing a series of stories from McGill students that are representative of their struggles with mental health. We also plan to have experts in the field of mental illness  to share their work with students. This will allow students to better understand the field of mental health, which will promote a culture of awareness, acceptance, and empathy. As well, we hope to bring in distinguished individuals and role models to share their stories with the student population.

Secondly, we plan on offering several workshops during the week which will feature activities that promote mental health. We have experts in the field of fitness, yoga, nutrition, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, athletic therapy, and art, who will be leading free workshops in their respective field. Each session will both explain the importance of the activity to improve mental health, and will also include demonstrations and participation in order for the students to be involved and experience the benefits.

Thank you for your generosity,
McGill students for mental health
