The Street Kids of Rwanda are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the welfare of Rwandan street children by providing housing, food and education. Their goal is to enable children to grow into self-sufficient adults who can help others by becoming leaders and productive members of their communities. They began in 2002, when Antoine Bizimana, a mechanic and former street kid, began offering care to street children. Eventually they were able to build the Kimisagara Centre (an orphanage) in Kigali, Rwanda which houses 105 children. This is not a government supported centre "“ the money primarily comes from Antoine's mechanic shop, which he uses to support all the children. While Street Kids of Rwanda has improved the lives of many children, their resources are limited and the children have many needs.
