On 31st July philip Miller will attempt to set a world record for the distance covered by a mobility scooter in ten hours .The event is in Agnew park in the lovely seaside town of Stranraer .Next year is the town's 400 year anniversary of the town becoming a Royal Burgh. There will be a number of events over the coming year and this is a town on the up after many job losses over the last fifty years. on the day of the event it will have a video and two live cameras and links to businesses in the town and on our Facebook page stranraer 399 so please like it .The whole town is hopefully joining in by asking their friends to like the page Stranrer399 .More photos will be added to show off the wonderul town and surrounding area .
Citizens in the town have set up the Straraer town and rural trust ,the Stranraer development trust and we now have a vibrant Community Council .
With one of the mildest climates in Britain we have Palm trees and subtropical gardens. There are wonderful golf courses ,water sports,a sports centre and curling in the winter for which the town is world famous.
What's actually happening on the 31st ?
The record attempt is by a disabled person and the video is by other disabled people .Stranraer is a town on the up slowly but surely and its resilient population which is famed for its friendliness is helping their town which they love so much is known to a bigger worldwide audience .
Please use your fingers to help a town helping itself .Thank you in advance from the town with mile wide grin, Loch Ryan!.
