Update 5/25/2018. Why do we need Funds? During the Public Hearings on the wind ordinance, the wind energy corporations will try to discredit all the research on property values, health, and the like. We as residents would not be in the best position to counter the holes they will try to make. We need to hire legal with experience in countering the wind energy narrative and acoustician, appraiser, etc. to explain the research and why it is valid. We appreciate all the help we can get in bringing these experts to speak on behalf of a responsible wind ordinance!

Update 5/23/2018. The Planning Zoning Committe began discussions today on setbacks for the draft ordinance. Once the draft moves to Public Hearings, we will need Legal and Experts to defend responsible setbacks to protect health, welfare, and property rights. We've all done a great job thus far, but we will soon be at a point that we need to secure experts. Please share this with friends and neighbors.

Update 5/15/2018. We are vetting experts this week to speak to the research and impacts of industrial wind turbines on health, property values, and quality of life. This project will directly impact the entire northern half of DeKalb County including Sycamore and Genoa! Please help us reach our goal so we can ensure a wind ordinance that protects everyone's health, safety, and property rights!

Update 4/23/2018. We’ve seen a tremendous uptick in contributions coming in via mail to Concerned Citizens, PO Box 1, Esmond, IL 60129 ! Those numbers are not reflected here, but we are well on our way.
As the community realizes that the original footprint of the project in the wings has EXPANDED to include wrapping around Sycamore, Genoa, Kingston and Kirkland, more are stepping up to help us fight for a responsible industrial wind ordinance that protects all of DeKalb County. We need these experts to challenge the industrial wind corporation’s false claims that these projects do not impact property values or quality of life. One only needs to look at what is happening across the US and abroad to know that insufficient setbacks cause lasting damage to the families, the community and the County.

Update 4/19/2018. We have begun the process of vetting experts in acoustics (noise/sound), health impacts, property value losses, and legal counsel with expertise in wind projects. The Wind Corporations will bring their experts to DeKalb County suggesting there are no issues with siting industrial wind turbines near residences. We know that is not true and need to bring our own experts to counter and steer this ordinance toward one that protects non-participating residents! BUT there are huge inequalities of resources between the $87 billion wind corporation and us. This is not a level playing field. However, we have numbers and we need to see those numbers at the upcoming PZC meeting on 4/25 at 6:00 PM – Gatheratorium (east entrance) 200 N. Main Street, Sycamore. Lets show the PZC we care.

Update 4/13/2018. Thank you to all those mailing in checks to support bringing experts to speak on behalf of residents. While we are working to develop this Countywide ordinance, energy corporations are working to sign up land owners. The photo above shows in BLACK the original site plan. The RED area encompasses where we have heard that they are talking to land owners about signing contracts. We need all residents of DeKalb County to get involved in the creation of a wind ordinance. Because this or the next project may be in YOUR backyard, help us get it written right the first time!!

March 2018. In January 2017 a group of citizens concerned about further industrial wind projects in the county, came together to work for the common goal of keeping our county safe and protecting those who live there.
We need experts to testify at upcoming County Board meetings on the issues residents raised regarding health and safety, property value declines, and wildlife impacts. We want a responsible wind ordinance that ensures our health, safety, and property protections.
BUT we need you to contribute so we can ensure all industrial wind projects in our County are done responsibly and with everyone's interests addressed!
