Dear Friends,
We are Janet and Vicki, two clinical social workers passionate about working with children and families, as well as psychosocial capacity building in communities that are dealing with trauma.
In February, 2020, we will be volunteering our services as part of Step Up Uganda. This is an opportunity to support Step Up Uganda’s commitment to the people of northern Uganda who were directly impacted by a long war, and are recovering. It’s an organization of medical providers, clinical social workers and clinical psychologists who began their work in 2011 in Gulu, Uganda.
During our time in Uganda, we will be based in the town of Gulu. We shall document our work through photography and field notes. Using an approved manual to train and support community leaders, we hope to contribute to skills and strategies that will enhance the local leadership’s organized efforts at recovering from trauma.
With this fundraising effort, we hope to raise money to supplement our travel and contribution to Step Up Uganda. We will give 25% of funds to Step Up Uganda foundation.
