Stella’s Cuddle Cot Fund

$4,400 of $3,000 goal

In honor of our precious daughter Stella June Carroll, we are raising money to purchase and donate a Cuddle Cot to the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey where Stella was born.

On Saturday October 28, 2017 our world came crashing down. This is the day our precious daughter Stella died. That morning, at almost 39 weeks pregnant, I woke up not feeling any movement from our daughter. Anxiously we called our obstetrician's office and we were told to come in and check on the baby to make sure she was ok. Soon after our arrival, our worst fear was confirmed as the words "this is where we would normally see a heartbeat" trembled through my body. Our baby girl was gone.

I delivered Stella stillborn that same night after a labor induction. She was the most gorgeous sleeping girl we ever laid eyes on. We will never forget the time we spent with her: cuddling her, smelling her, kissing her, and just admiring our perfect girl. We spent 12 short hours with Stella in the hospital before we left heartbroken and with empty arms as we left her behind.

After losing Stella, I researched and read everything I could about stillbirth, and that is how I learned about the Cuddle Cot. The Cuddle Cot is a cooling bassinet that helps preserve a baby's body for up to three days after death, and it gives parents the gift of time.

To give other bereaved parents that gift of time with their baby; and to give back to the amazing Labor and Delivery staff at Hunterdon Medical Center, we would love to raise enough money to donate a Cuddle Cot in our Stella's honor. We have spoken with the appropriate staff at HMC, and they would happily accept our donation.

We feel so grateful for any and all donations, no matter how small, to help us reach our goal. Please share our story with your friends and family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting us.

First and foremost, we would like to sincerely thank each and every single one of you who has contributed to Stella's Cuddle Cot Fund. We are so grateful and so moved by the overwhelming amount of support we have received since starting this fund. We truly cannot believe we have exceeded our goal in less than two days! This is just incredible.

Secondly, I spoke with the VP of Hunterdon Healthcare Foundation at Hunterdon Medical Center today and told him the great news. He was very happy to hear this. We also discussed that because the Cuddle Cot is considered a medical device that will be used at the hospital, it will need to be purchased directly by the hospital from the distributor. This means that I will transfer our funds directly to the hospital, where there will be a trust fund in Stella's name specifically and only to be used toward the Cuddle Cot. All additional funds will go toward any replacement parts needed, and possibly another Cuddle Cot for a hospital in need of one.

We will keep you updated as we go. Again, thank you so much for making this possible. And please, keep sharing Stella's story.
