Stanford BSU For Haiti Response

Donation protected
Approximately a month ago on October 4th, hurricane Matthew struck Haiti , a struggling Carribean island nation that is no stranger to the force and aftermath of natural disasters . Hurricane Matthew devastatingly ran through this country, leveling more than half of several cities and towns, flooding even more, destroying significant portions of health infrastructure, killing hundreds, and displacing thousands.

Many relief efforts have begun in the past month, but there remains a copious amonunt of work before anything near a previous status quo (let alone sustainable, safe living) is even peeking over the horizon of this country's future. Indeed, the relief efforts that have been underway started with less than optimal efficacy and support , and they are only now gaining appropriate resources. Among these are both international and local community efforts to respond to this disaster as effectively as possible. Current relief includes mass shipment of medical supplies to impacted areas, distribution of food and water (as they are in dire need), on-the-ground housing rebuilding and substitution, and direct medical care at set up clinics.

We, the community outreach branch of Stanford University's Black Student Union (BSU), in solidarity with Haitians and Haitian-Americans and in recognition of our role as global citizens, are having an electronic campaign through GoFundMe to raise money and awareness for current relief efforts in Haiti. All donations will go to Oxfam 's current response in Haiti.

We are extremely grateful for all donations to this cause.
