Hello, I am a midwife and nurse practitioner. I have spent the last two decades working in Gainesville Florida. For over 15 years I have worked/volunteered in disaster relief and international humanitarian and development work both as an independent person and with aid organizations. I have worked in Haiti, Colombia, Gambia, Rwanda, Morocco, Kenya, the DRC, New Orleans & Mississippi and most recently in Turkey, Beirut, Jordan and Iraq. I have been extremely fortunate to have a supportive family, employer, and community.
My work is, in most substantial part, is with Syrian refugees. However much of my work also is with refugees and internally displaced persons from many other countries in the region. Most recently I worked with IDPs in Hammam-Al-Alil Iraq.
I am asking for small donations $10/$20; they add up! I will continue to share with you information about my work and how the money is used while working in the region. When my work is contracted, and I am paid, I do not seek donations (unless for specific medications not available). When I volunteer, pay for my transportation, time off of work and accommodations, I request donations for essential medicines and necessary resources for those I serve.
I know most of you are aware that, although the news cycle and mass media has grown weary and bored with the Syrian crisis and civil war, the people continue to suffer, it has been six years of war, and over 13 million people have fled Syria. Most to live in unofficial refugee camps, stateless, and often forgotten by the world. Thank-you, every tiny bit helps!

Your relationship with the parties for whom you are raising funds and your method of contact with them:
I will be working as a health care provider in refugee camps. My next travel includes work in Cox Bazaar with Rohingya refugees. I will be providing direct medical care to refugees within the region. Care will consist of obstetrical care, gynecological care, reproductive care/contraception, primary care.

I will return to Turkey, and the Middle East as this population and crisis is very close to my heart.

Funds will be used to purchase essential medications, I have purchased over 400 IUDs, surgical or medical fees when necessary, transportation fees if necessary and other essentials of daily living.

I will withdraw funds from the campaign while in the country and use directly for services, supplies, fees, medications, etc.
