What is this campaign about?

This fund was set up after the passing of Ronald Rocco in order to raise funds to purchase and donate bikes to local children in need.

Who is Ron Rocco?

Ronald Rosario Rocco

August 20, 1943 - October 20, 2015

Ronald (Ron) Rocco of Petaluma passed peacefully after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his two devoted sons, Joey and Josh, his former wife, Karen, his loving sister, Rosanne, and her husband, Thomas.

Ron was born in Westbury, New York and moved to California in the early 1960’s to begin his teaching career. He was an educator in the Old Adobe School District for over 30 years and was beloved by many Petaluma students and families for his sense of humor, creativity, and kindness.

Before he became ill, Ron was an avid cyclist and rode with the “Chicken City Cyclists”. He was also passionate about photography, particularly black and white portraiture, shooting and developing beautiful photos of local Petalumans in his home-built darkroom and studio.
His other interests included spending time with his sons, tinkering with cars, and attempting to dissect the lyrics of his favorite artist, Bob Dylan, on his hi-fi stereo.

Our family would like to thank Hospice by the Bay for their incredible support during these past few months.

Who is Sprocket Man?

Sprocket Man is Ron's superhero alter ego that he created to the delight of both his children, and the students he taught.  Some of his goals are "world bicycle safety and preventing injustice to bicyclists."
