Hello my name is Viva Charlene and my partner and I have a passion for performing and playing music and we would like to perform on a weekly basis at senior centers, nursing homes and other organizations where those who are sick and shut in, don't get a chance to hear live music.
Our goal is to bring a smile to those who need a smile and let everyone know that they are loved and to bring a little light into people lives. For example, there was a lady, in one of these nursing homes at White Plains Nursing Home in the Bronx, New York, who was in a coma. We would play privately in her room, every week for about three months. On one of those occasions, the lady came out of her coma and started talking. Everyone was amazed. Many of the staff said to us it was because of our music.
Over the years we've forged relationships with many of the residents, and we always enjoy seeing the reaction and sparkle in their eyes when we play the songs that they love. We have been performing since 1992 and would like to continue our tradition. We initially started playing in New York, and now we've moved to Petersburg, Virginia. Many of these organizations do not have the budget needed to pay for live entertainment, therefore, we would like to give this service to them free of charge.
We are seeking funding for one year.
