Thank you for opening and reading this request. Spirit of the Wind, near Mt. Shasta, is a community promoting wellness through ceremonies. Led by my adopted dad - our leader, WalkingEagle – a Karuk elder, sweat lodges are facilitated weekly (i.e., sometimes two or three per week). Twice a year, vision quests are organized (May and June) in preparation for the Sundance (last week of July – first week of August). All ceremonies are free of cost. Donations are encouraged in order to pay for wood used for the sweat lodges as well as food and materials needed when organizing the vision quests and Sundances.
For 45 years, ceremonies have been held in what is currently known as “Stewart Mineral Springs.” Management has changed and ceremonies will no longer be allowed there.
In order to have all of the ceremonies in the same location for years to come, Spirit of the Wind begun a fundraising campaign as well as a process of searching for land to be purchased in the Mt. Shasta or nearby area: a land where the community at large, generations after generations, will come in communion for the goal of wellness.
Currently, we are working with an agent, Donna Kalayiian, free of cost, who has been very helpful in identifying a number of lands available. Some of the lands identified have wells and septic installed, others have wells and need a septic to be installed, or have running water available. Electricity is near and accessible. Our leader and elder, Walking Eagle, has visualized a land accessible (flat) and easy for the elders to move around.
Our community is not an organization that has a 501 c3 status or who can afford to buy land (note: we are currently in the process of becoming a non-for-profit. Incorporation documents will be submitted to the state by the end of this month). Our community is constituted by individuals who are committed to living consciously and intentionally through the practice of Native rituals / ceremonies. Thus, we are asking family and friends to support this endeavor. In order to purchase land, your prayers as well as monetary contribution is vital. We are hoping to raise a minimum of $40,000 within the next three months. Your donation is highly appreciated: $10, $25, $50, $100, more. Everything counts.
Prayers and faith are the foundation of this project. Our fundraising campaign will be active for the next three months. In April 2018, we will write and provide a report to all the donors, published through Spirit of the Wind Facebook page. Since your donation is not tax deductible, we encourage you to pray and explore if this is a project that you would like to support as a “pay it forward.” This project is based on an honest system.
We began this fundraising campaign about 8 weeks ago and have raised over $18,000 between pledges made and money already collected. . Creator is running the show; we are simply taking the footsteps. The mind may react by saying, “this is too ambitious.” Yet, we have often been reminded that the heart is not confined by logic and / or reason. Spirit is not limited by the conditions of the mind. We know that what we are attempting to do is not conventional. Yet, much unconventional healing (i.e., healing of illness) has occurred through these ceremonies. Thus, send your positive thoughts and prayers!
