Help a child in need for Christmas

My name is Samantha and I started this event "Making A South Philadelphia Christmas Wish Telethon" with the help of my mom and her Facebook page "Taking Our South Philadelphia Streets Back". As a kid I was the one who always had brand new things and recieved everything I could of ever wanted, I had that picture perfect family home until my parents divorved. When they went through their ugly divorce I had stopped talking to my father. All I knew and had was being ripped right from underneath me. We lost our beautiful home because my mother was unable to afford the bills, and that expensive lifestyle we use to have. None of our family knew what type of financial struggles she was having, my mom kept our lives very private. One Saturday morning my mom had $5 left in her pocket, petrified and not knowing how she was going to feed me and my two younger siblings, she came up with the idea of having an open house/yardsale. She knew she was losing her home anyway, so we opened our garage door and prayed for people to come and buy our things. By the grace of god we started to have people come and buy and at the end of our day that $5 turned into $1200. Since that day my mom made a promise to god that she would always help and give back as much as she could. Me being a child then and witnessing what my mom went through to make sure her kids had the necessities they needed is why I am doing what I do now. I made that promise with her, I promised to help whoever was struggling the way we did or worse. I know the struggles these families go through on a daily basis and the worries that they have day in and day out. There is no better person to understand what these people go through unless you've taken a walk in their shoes. So this Christmas I am going to make it easy for the families in need in the South Philadelphia area. We have families that have been nominated by their community to receive help from us this Christmas for their children. This money will go towards food, clothing, and toys for the families in need. I hope that my story can reach someone who is going through the same thing we went through and help them to understand that there is a light at the end of every dark tunnel and not to be afraid to ask for help. Everyone has a guardian angel right over their shoulder, they just don't always know it! Every little penny counts. Thank you in advance.
