Sorry I Need To Ask

Donation protected

Hey Everyone,

First, let me introduce myself. My name is James but I usually use Jas. I have some cousins somewhere but no close relatives to ask for help. I’m old, blind and very sick.

I have multiple health problems which I’ll go into later. My immediate need is help moving to a mobile home. Barring a miracle, there’s no way I’ll be able to stay in my home of 15 years for more than a couple of months. However, in 15 years I’ve accumulated a lot of stuff, particularly furniture from the estates of both parents.

(I had a very strange childhood — 12 public school transfers in 6 states on both coasts starting in Dallas, Texas in 1954. In the 5th grade in North Carolina I corrected the teacher’s pronunciation of a place name in Oregon. I’d been living there six months earlier.)

I started receiving Social Security Disability in 2002 on first application (I think I was expected to die pretty quick; to everyone’s surprise — including mine — I lived) but have had deteriorating health ever since. And I was diagnosed as legally blind last year.

My problem is my mortgage payments increased at the same time my health and income decreased. So I am now faced with having to move while blind and barely able to walk.

I need help with moving expenses. I need to rent a unit to store my stuff while the house is sold, then move everything to the trailer when I can take possession. I’m also going to need guys to carry stuff I can’t lift. In the meantime, the utility bills are piling up along with credit cards and doctor/dentist bills. Over $4,000 and counting for an abscess in my jaw last month.

You see my predicament. If you can donate, I will be beholden to you. If you can’t, a few words of support will help.

Any assistance will be gratefully received.

Sometimes I feel like a National Enquirer headline:

TERMINALLY ILL SINCE 1996!!!

WHY DOESN’ THIS MAN DIE

Bone marrow edema and avascular necrosis in both hips. Essentially, the marrow inside the pelvis and femurs has swollen. Also, the bones have been deprived of blood supply and are deteriorating into acute osteoporosis with extreme risk of fracture.

Neither condition has a cure, and both are extremely painful. Coupled with pinched occipital nerve, scar tissue blocking the colon, and severe neuropathy in both feet, there is no position that doesn't become painful within a few minutes.

In February, ‘19, I was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia. The bacteria were possibly an isolated colony left over from my septicemia in ‘96, hiding in the right lung. Through March there was intensive medical intervention and once again l lived - for the first week there was some question but once again . . .

Some quick take-aways:

Disability/illness is not cheap.

Long-term disability/severe illness even less so.

Permanent Disability not only drains you physically and emotionally, it takes any financial security.

I have no income except Social Security (just under $1,500/month).

A decent-paying job working from home fell through last month  - “we worry about it making your health worse.” I had told ‘em the truth about my health a month before and things were positive. Until they weren’t.

Now I need to start from scratch looking for a job while trying to pack the house up. And I have to take anything. Minimum wage would be nice but I’ll take what I can get.

For what it’s worth, in 1958, I spent the summer picking cotton on a farm in North Carolina. I made $.10/lb.  Any job I find can’t be worse than picking cotton for $.10/lb. Came to about $1.00 a day. I do need more than that, but please refer any jobs.

I do not want to move - but that doesn’t matter any more..

A total of $5,000 will help me to move to a trailer. I know that is an enormous amount to ask for, and anything anyone can spare will gain a karmic blessing.

Please, I could use some kindness about now.

Many thanks,

Jas
