Smiles of Hawaii Dental Project

Donation protected
Every 2 years volunteers of Smiles of Hawaii Dental Project travel to the Philippines to provide FREE dental services to Impoverished areas.  These dentists, hygienists, assistants and volunteers donate their time, effort and money to pay for travel lodging and supplies including antibiotics and pain meds.  They set up makeshift dental clinics in churches, schools and halls.  These clinics are open to everyone in the community.  They see an average of 400 people during their visit.  Some patients have walked 2 hours to get to the services and have waited hours to see someone.  Some patients treated have lived with severe infections. This year the team of 12 dental professionals and personnel will be headed out again on March 29th for another dental mission.

These mission trips have enabled the team to help hundreds of patients who do not have access to dental care.  Although the mission is carried out by Smiles of Hawaii Dental Project team, the collaborative efforts of our community, vendors, patients, friends and our families have made it a great success.

One of the hardest part about the mission every year is having to send patients home without receiving dental care on the last day of the mission.  Often these patients have been waiting all day, taking their chances in hopes that they may get a much needed dental cleaning.

Each mission trip we strive to do better than the previous.  This year Nora has made it her goal to raise $2000.00 to purchase a portable Cavitron scaler, a dental cleaning machine that functions without hooking up to a large dental unit.  This machine allows the dental cleaning to work much faster than the traditional hand scaling which means more patients can be seen in a day.

On behalf of Nora I know she would be ecstatic to make it to her goal to better serve the patients seen during the upcoming mission.   Nora has stated with this machine she will be able to clean a few more patients in your name.

Please support the team as best you can.....GOAL DATE is February 14th so do your heart good by helping someone in dire need.
