Genome Sequence a Siberian
Donation protected
Dr Leslie Lyon's and her group of reseachers at University of Missouri have a project called 99 Lives in which they are sequencing various breeds of cats for their genome. This helps with research of so many genetic diseases. The Siberian Cat has yet to be sequenced and is in need of sponsorship so we can have our breed's genome studied. This can help find mutations for such diseases as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) coat colors such as golden, and any number of other issues.
Sponsorship takes $7000! We need to make this happen! Many of us have donated hundreds on an individual basis, but that doesn't help our specific breed - the Siberian!
So, let's work together and sponsor the Siberian!
UPDATE: We are reaching our goal so quickly that I've increased our goal. Ideally, we can double the original goal in order to sequence 2 Siberians. However, anything over and above the original amount will be donated to Siberian HCM Research.
Thanks!
