Skydive & Volunteering in Sri Lanka
Donation protected
On the 30th April 2017, I will be jumping out of a plane at 10,000ft in order to fund my mental health volunteering placement in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is still recovering from a 25-year long civil war and a devastating tsunami, their population is in desperate need of far more psychological support than their current resources can provide. Mental health is extremely stigmatised in Sri Lanka due to the belief in karma and therefore there are very few mental health professionals, beds in psychiatric hospitals, and support for familes.
In September this year, I will be flying to Sri Lanka with a company called SLV for 2 months. I’ll be working in a clinical setting with individuals suffering with mental illness at varying stages of their recovery. Along with this, I will be running activites at centres for people with special needs and teaching children English. I’ll be living like a local in Sri Lanka and will be putting everything I have learnt at university so far to great use.
This placement is 100% voluntary. So I need to raise money to pay for my flights and accommodation. Spending money I’ll be saving up myself. Any money raised over my target will be donated to the charity in order to fund future projects.
Any donations would be greately appreciated, as I know that this will be a life changing opportunity, not only for myself but for those I will be helping
Thank you!
Love Rose xoxo
