Exciting News! Midvale Students Qualify for National Competition!!

Fifth graders from Midvale Elementary in Tucker, GA have qualified to compete at the U.S. Navy’s national SeaPerch contest in Dartmouth, MA, May 29-31.

Under the supervision of STEM Coordinator Burian J. Kitchen, the team of Hallelujah Bereket, Michael Conn and Kylie Jones earned first place in the Robot Design and Presentation phase of the competition, and garnered third place in the Pool Events. The two aspects of the contest—Robot Design and Presentation and Pool Events require that students plan and execute an effective design and be able to answer questions about the process, plus demonstrate expertise in maneuvering the ROV (robot) through a series of underwater challenges.

The Midvale “Robosses” team’s excellent showing at the state competition held at Chamblee Charter High School on March 28th earned them a berth at the national competition in Massachusetts, one of only two Georgia teams to qualify!

Your help is needed to get these outstanding students to Massachusetts for the U.S. Navy National SeaPerch Competition. Midvale’s PTA is accepting donations to cover travel expenses, food, lodging and registration fees for the team.
