Refugee Crisis in the E.U. Study & Service Program

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Sierra, a 20 year old student passionate about making the world a better place for both people and the planet. I have been accepted to a program to spend roughly a month in Greece this summer to learn about the refugee crisis in the European Union so that I can understand how to support the planet's most vulnerable people. Unfortunately, because of my financial situation, I will not be able to pick up all of the costs of the trip alone.
This program is designed to help myself and the other students understand the complexities of migrant flows, what NGOs are doing to help refugees, and learn what global policies and societal perceptions inhibit the ability of refugees to start new lives. By donating to this campaign, you are contributing to the development of knowledge around one of the greatest global crises we face today so that I can learn how to develop the capacity to make long-lasting change. With roughly 34,000 people around the globe becoming displaced from their homes on a daily basis, this is something that must be tackled with both empathy and knowledge of large global systems*.
By participating in this program, I will be able to understand how to not only help people escaping genocide, effects of climate change, war, religious persecution, and other forms of conflict throughout the course of my career, but also mitigate future displacement of people.
The money going towards the trip will be used for the following:
Airfare
Food
Lodging
Transportation
Tuition
Donations to the NGOs that host us, spend time educating us about the crisis, and allow us service opportunities working with refugees.
