Serve The People on Red Friday 2k16
Last year, y'all helped the Kentucky Workers League serve hundreds of treats to workers taken from their families during the Thanksgiving holiday. Surviving in a society driven soely by profit, their employers elected to exploit them on a day the rest of the country reflects on thankfulness. Anyone who has worked retail or food service knows how it can feel when a customer looks through you, like you're not even there. We wanted to let those workers know that we see them and give them a little boost until they could make it back home.
The Kentucky Workers League, a group of socialists based out of Lexington, KY. We seek to organize unorganized workers to build a better economy and politics designed for human need rather than profit. Events like Red Friday are how we show the working class that we stand in solidarity with them. In fact, most of the organizers planning this years events are working one or both of these days.
The money we raise this year will go to packaging, labelling, and baking several hundred baggies of delicious treats for our soon to be friends at Fayette Mall and the Big Box Stores throughout Lexington.
We will need the funds by the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to ensure that everything is ready to go on the big day.
Extra generous donors will recieve a card from our friend at anticapitalist love notes. https://www.etsy.com/listing/178816721/anti-capitalist-love-notes-postcard
Every donor will recieve our total gratitude and the pleasure of knowing they've made a tired workers day that much brighter.
Thank you so much and we hope to hear from you soon.
