Jeune photographe (et étudiant en sociologie), je sollicite votre appui financier afin de monter ma toute première exposition, qui aura lieu à la fin du mois de Janvier 2017.
Dans les deux dernières années, j'ai développé une pratique se situant quelque part entre photojournalisme, photographie documentaire et sociologie. J’ai d’ailleurs été sélectionné comme l’un des photojournalistes de la relève dans le cadre du concours Portfolio Potluck du Word Press Photo à Montréal, édition 2016. À travers mes photos, j'adopte la posture du passant, je cherche son regard banal. Cette exposition est l’aboutissement d’un projet sur lequel je travaille depuis quelques années. En effet, inspiré par le livre de sociologie South Korea under Compressed Modernity et le film coréen Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (2002), et stimulé par une double perspective autant narrative que sociologique, à l'occasion d'un voyage de deux mois en Corée, j'ai cherché à capter des scènes d'une « modernité ordinaire ». Des avatars d'une mélancolie post-industrielle.
Tout l'argent collecté servira à couvrir les dépenses liées à l'exposition, qui incluent : la location de la galerie, le coût d'impression des tirages, l'encadrement, la promotion de l'exposition, etc.
La première exposition est souvent un moment important dans la carrière d'un photographe, c'est pourquoi votre soutien me sera très précieux.

I am an emerging photographer (and sociology student) and I would like to request your support in order to be able to hold my very first exhibition, which will take place at the end of this coming January.
In the past two years, I've developped a photographic perspective that draws from photojournalism, documentary photography and sociology. Furthermore, I have recently been selected as an emerging photojournalism talent in the Portfolio Potluck du Word Press Photo contest (2016) in Montréal.
This project stems from various inspirations crossing many fields from cinema to sociology, and all of which have in common the fact that they are telling a story about Korea. My two main inspirations were the movie Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) and the book South Korea under Compressed Modernity (Chang Kyung sup). Finally taking a trip to Korea this summer, I wanted to capture scenes from an ''ordinary modernity'', depictions of ''post industrial melancholy'' through portraits, ''glimpsed at'' moments and pictures of ''still life''. Through my pictures I adopt the gaze of a random bystander.
Every dollar collected will go towards covering the costs associated with the exhibition, which include : renting the space, printing costs, framing costs, promotion costs, etc.
The first exhibition is a milestone of critical importance in any photographer's career, therefore your support means the world to me.
