1) What is Christ in the City?

Christ in the City is a Catholic program dedicated both to forming young adults, volunteers, and the greater community to be lifelong missionaries and to knowing, loving, and serving the poor.

We pursue these goals through encountering those experiencing homelessness on the streets on a consistent basis. We hope to establish mutual, dignifying, and authentic friendships with those experiencing homelessness so that they can in turn be known, loved, and served.

2) What are the funds for?

As I mentioned earlier, the purpose of Christ in the City is twofold: to form lifelong missionaries and to encounter those experiencing homelessness with the Love of Christ.

Your contribution helps to provide for:

-the living cost of my missionary year
-the sustainability and maintenance of our home
-materials for those experiencing homelessness (sleeping bags, hand-warmers, bottled water, etc.)


3) How soon will I need the funds?

August 16th marks the start of my missionary year.

Every contribution makes a major impact. Any donation of $50, $25, or even $5 ensures the mission of Christ in the City is possible for years to come. As well, it provides for the conditions of my own formation as a lifelong missionary and servant of God. 



4) What would your support mean?

Your support means another day walking on the streets and seeking out our poorest brothers and sisters in Denver. Everyday that we are not fundraising to make this mission sustainable we have more time to be present to our friends on the street. That could mean accompanying someone to a doctor's appointment or offering emotional support after a painful relapse.

Your support is changing the world in Denver.



5) How can you get involved?

What a wonderful question! I've met many people who have assumed that the only way to support Christ in the City is through a financial gift, but that's simply not true.

Here are three ways you can join in our mission and help serve those experiencing homelessness around us:

1- Pray...

For those experiencing homelessness, for our missionaries, and for a new culture of encounter.

2- Encounter...

Those around you, especially the homeless, but really everyone you meet. We work for a culture of encounter at Christ in the City, and you can share in that every time you recognize Jesus in all His people and respond accordingly.

The homeless experience a material poverty, but the poverty of loneliness is universal.
You may never know the power of a smile or a kind word.

3- Donate...

Assisting in this mission financially allows for our program the stability to share our work of knowing, loving, and serving the poor throughout the nation for another year.

However, I cannot emphasize enough the paramount importance of praying for this mission and working for a culture of encounter in your own life. I don't dream of a world where Christ in the City has an office in every major metropolitan area. I dream of a world where the poor, the lonely, and the abandoned know the Love of God through ordinary people around them.
