We have had an amazing experience working on this! We have reached our goal of books; however, after our first delivery experience, we have identified that we need more manpower in the distribution and funding for the delivery aspect (ex: renting a location to organize out of in Washington DC). With that in mind we our raising our goal to achieve completing the delivery (4/25/17).

We have only one Earth. It is beautiful. It is amazing and we should protect it from those who do not seem to realize its value and importance especially in light of the new administration. We have been taught that calls to action include phone calls to our representatives, organizing our efforts, letter writing to those in power, peaceful protesting and marching, and fundraising to support the belief in our causes. As a working mother, my time is valuable, and I want to make sure my voice is heard for my children’s sake; so, how do I stand out among the rest? I have been contemplating this very question since the Presidential election results were revealed. How do I make my campaign unique? How can I draw the most attention to my growing concerns regarding the potential impact to protective, environmental legislation?
My fundraising campaign is that each member of congress, the cabinet picks and the President and Vice-President should be given a used copy of one of the most beloved childhood books- The Lorax. The books can be donated via contacting me through this application or you can donate as little or as much money as you like so that I can buy used copies of the Lorax. The copies of The Lorax would go to the 600 or so individuals who have an office in Washington D.C.
Each used copy of The Lorax will be delivered in person to Capitol Hill. This is also a teaching moment for my and your children that in order to make changes we must take action. Together, my boys and I, will write letters to our represenatives in Congress: Senator Toomey and Senator Casey and Congressman Meehan. As a parent, to teach my children to be civic activists and to ensure that those who don't have voices have equal representation, there must be someone speak for them. The earth cannot speak for herself- let's be her voice!
My goal is to get enough copies of the Lorax to have the books and letters delivered on the Monday after Earth Day, April 24, 2017. If you would prefer not to donate money but rather donate and extra copy of the Lorax or a used copy please contact me about how you can send it to me. Recycled books are the way to go to set an example while making a statement! Any funds beyond the amount needed to deliver the Lorax will be donated to the environmental organization Earthjustice which supports l justice on critical environmental issues in order to bring about positive change. In Dr. Seuss's wisdom, even in 1971, he predicted the road we would travel and the unsuspecting victims of this path, but he also knew that "unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." So, we have reached a time where we must care a whole awful lot about our earth and protect it with each and every voice there is.
So, while the support would mean the world to me- I would like to think it would mean the world to the Earth. As the Once-ler said, "I know it may seem small and insignificant, but it's not about what it is, it's about what it can become."
