Send Gabby to volunteer in Vietnam

Hello to my friends, family, and any other kind person taking their time to read this!

I'm Gabby Nguyen, a first year at UC Berkeley as an intended Psychology major and Art Practice minor with the dream of becoming a pediatrician. This is why I joined Volunteers for Medical Outreach (VMO)- a nonprofit, student-run organization that provides free medical services and health education to underserved communities in Vietnam every summer.

Throughout the school year, VMO collects donations and fundraises for medicine, corrective surgeries, Hepatitis B vaccinations, and mobile clinics. We also get the opportunity to shadow and assist doctors, dentists, and pharmacists in addition to teaching basic health lessons to schoolchildren. VMO works with other nonprofit organizations such as Aid for Children Without Parents (ACWP), San Jose based Friends of Hue Foundation (FHF), as well as the Vietnam Tooth Project (VTP) to reach our goals. 

As many of my close friends/family already know, I spent three weeks in Vietnam with my church youth group last summer. We visited multiple villages to play and give gifts to the less-privileged kids living there. Those kids and the country absolutely stole my heart, and I can't wait to go back with VMO this time! Being back in Vietnam will help continue to grow my appreciation for my culture, help me practice my Vietnamese, and overall grant an unforgettable experience. The money raised from this GoFundMe will go towards my travel, housing, and personal expenses. Not only that, $500 will specifically go towards buying medicinal supplies for those in need, and any extra will also go towards VMO's efforts. Every donation is appreciated!
