Aspire to Inspire - Mwima School

Aspire to Inspire, a nonprofit organization in the United States of America, was conceived by Late Ms. Viola Kamkwalala to give back to her country, Malawi. Viola’s vision was to give Malawian youths and children an opportunity to have a second chance in life through learning and growing to be useful and responsible members of their communities. ATI’s mission is to motivate and support youth in less-privileged communities in Malawi through academic or skills training.
With this mission in mind, ATI launched the Mwima Nursery School Project in January 2015. Mwima, a rural village in East Central Mangochi, has never had a school. While the Bakili Muluzi regime built a school building there, it has not been in operation due to lack of teachers and school supplies. ATI’s project works in partnership with the local school committee to provide teachers, books, and supplies so local children between the ages of 2 to 12 years may attend classes.
ATI's board of directors, staff, and volunteers became involved with Aspire to Inspire through an association with its founder and her sister (also her caregiver as she went through cancer treatments). It affected all of us deeply to know that, even while in the hospital, Viola was focused on giving back to her community to make the world a better place. We hope you will join us as we continue this important work.
Specifically, donations will fund items like:
- Bicycles to give teachers reliable transportation
- Essential school supplies (pencils, books, CDs)
- A computer to track student enrollment/bookkeeping
- Tools to make repairs and maintain the school building
- A school feeding program, providing breakfast or lunch
Every amount helps – a $10, $20 or $25 donation will make a huge difference. Of course, if you can give more, it is greatly appreciated. With GoFundMe’s low fees, 95% of your donation will go toward funding the needs of the school and students.
