Scott and Ken's Emergency Fund

On May 9th of this year Scott Baker-Overbay had a mental health crisis and attemted to commit suicide.

Due to his illness his doctor ordered that he not work more than 20 hours a week. Due to Ken's  recent diagnosis of Periphial Neuropathy my medical bills have been in the tens of thousands of  dollars.

Our budget at the moment is already streched beyond it's limit and one little thing can cause a big problem.

All winter long we had been making payment arrangements on our electricity, water and garbage  bills, and it seems like we never get ahead.

If all of this is not enough our roof is leaking in several spots to the point where the drywall in the kitchen over the sink and the ceiling will need to be replaced.

Now comes the best part.  We own our own home, it is a mobile home  but we own it.

We live in a mobile home park in Duvall and pay $799 a month for space rent.  Last month was a tight month, Scott had missed several days of work from having the flu. Our roommate Nick who is on SSI disability income had some sort of issue with his bank account being compromised and could not pay his rent.  He pays $400.00 a month.

Scott's check was smaller than normal  due to the flu.

My check last week was not enough to cover the rent, power, water car insurance, etc.

Due to all of this I paid the rent a day late and then the check bounced.
We now have a 5 day pay or vacate notice.

Between Scott being in the hospital, our financial situation and my own health challenges I feel a bit hopeless at the moment.

If we can just come up with enough to cover the rent and another power bill that is on a payment arrangement and food and gas until payday we should be okay.

It has been very difficult for me to do this. But I do not know what else to do.

If this was just another month from now I could get up to $1000 from the King County Veterans Assistance Program. I went to them last year when we had a somewhat similar problem. They will give you a grant once a calender year.

Please if possible donate by May 20th as it takes up to 3 business days to withdraw.

Thank you and I hope this all makes sense.  It has been a difficult week and have not been able to sleep much.
