Service dog For Sawyer

Donation protected

Sawyer Hannah Horcher is an 8 year old in need of a service dog. Why?  Sawyer is no typical 8 year old.  She has Ehlers-Danlos type 3, Ketotic Hypoglycemia, Dysautonomia, Hashimotos and Gastroparesis, Immune Deficiency, Mast Cell Syndrome and Chronic Pain. She has unrelenting pain every moment of every day.  Sometimes Sawyer is unable to walk from the car into her house or to get off of the toilet. She is unable to do what most people take for granted. What takes most kids seconds to do, takes Sawyer much longer with her limited mobility. Going up stairs is beyond a nightmare for her and for her mother Rachel, who also suffers from EDS. Rachel carries her up and down the stairs, and this is becoming increasingly problematic as Sawyer now weighs 52 pounds. A  service dog, trained specifically for Sawyer’s needs, would not only aid in her mobility, but also offer her some much needed independence without having to rely heavily on her mother.

To complicate matters, Sawyer also suffers from a rare late-onset of ketotic hypoglycemia (KH) which makes her body unable to process sugars, most likely due to her Gastroparesis. When her sugars plummet, they go fast and hard, often without warning. Due to her EDS, she is unable to receive a traditional IV treatment because her veins will collapse; the only treatment option is to be mid-lined - a recovery process that takes a full 24 hours. Most children with KH grow out of this by the time they are 7-8 years of age, except for children who suffer from EDS/Dysatunomia. No one knows why. The constant cycle between doctors and hospitals does not allow her mother to be more than 20 minutes away at any given time. As no one, including Sawyer, is able to identify the warning signs.  A service dog would alert Sawyer and any adults present of Sawyer’s impending low blood sugar. It could make a HUGE difference in her daily life.

The dog will open up Sawyer's world in a way that no one can.

We originally started raising money for a dog and a wish for Saywer. However recently we found out that the money we spent with a service dog company was in vain.

We were devastated when the original person we hired to train her dog was not ethical and we lost a great deal of money. We are back to the beginning raising for her.
We have given up on her wish for now. The dog is most important.

We have faith.

Thank you, we are beyond grateful for your kindness!!!

We had orignailly asking for donations for her Service Dog and a Wish for her. She does not qualify for a wish as she is "chronic and progressive not in a life threatening situation". We have since stopped wishing for a wish. We have had to give that up and focus on her NEED. Please help.
