On Wednesday 26th September 2018, four members of staff at the ‘Community’ pub The Ivy House Nunhead were fired without notice or reason. The management committee made the decision independently of the community of shareholders they claim to represent and reiterated that no reason was required. The staff are employed on a ‘zero hours contract’ which means despite their hard work and loyal service to the customers and community, they have no rights in their workplace.
The staff have voted to walk out on strike until their colleagues are reinstated, the zero-hour contracts that allow such unethical treatment of workers are abolished and the staff’s union is recognised. Please donate to the strike fund if you can, boycott this pub and spread the word. The Ivy House 4 must be reinstated. No to zero hours. Recognise our union.
