Save the Big Tree!

We have been putting up the Christmas display for 20 years now, and have been decorating the big tree for the last 17 years. The gigantic fir is 90 feet tall, and decorated with 85,000 lights. It has become part of so many family’s Christmas tradition to come gaze at the tree and the rest of the neighborhood that has come together to decorate.
Every year we are asked by passerby’s how people can help contribute, and we have always turned them down. Seeing the excitement and enjoyment on everyone’s face as they look in awe has been rewarding enough!
Sadly, the tree is under attack. It has a beetle infection, the top 20 feet has already died. There's enough lights on it that it covers the damage at night, but it's pretty plain to see during the day. We have been told by tree experts the only way to save it is to cut the dead section off. If this is done, the healthy part has a fighting chance to keep growing.
In order to cut the top 20 feet off, the electrical system running the lights must be rebuilt. As anyone who has seen the tree’s 400+ animated circuits in action, this is quite the task. It doesn’t help the fact that all the work must be done from an expensive to rent man lift.
We are currently faced with the dilemma of funding the tree’s future. If we don’t do anything, the display will likely end next year as the tree’s health will continue to decay. We would love to keep it going, but cannot afford to shoulder all the work ourselves.
