Save The Back River Neck Peninsula
The Back River Neck Peninsula is an environmentally sensitive area which is now being threatened with over development. Bald Eagles, Osprey, Barred Owls and many other species of wild life along with us humans call this estuary home. Unfortunately, our representatives are not representing us and the process put in place to protect this and many other areas is a farce. One need only look at the Baltimore County politicians campaign finance reports to see who our representatives are representing and that is big developers with deep pockets who don't care about who or what they hurt just to make a profit. It is time that this corruption is stopped. A development has been approved despite going against all that was set up to protect this environmentally sensitive place. We are committed to saving this peninsula. After we fight this fight we are going to commit to help others save their neighborhoods and green spaces. Please donate to help with this important cause. It is time that we all stand together to stop the destruction of this environmentally sensitive area and to stop the destruction and disappearance of our green spaces.
I haven't written in awhile. It's been very busy preparing for my surgery that is upcoming on March 1 (finally) As many of our members know I have stage 1 breast cancer and will be having a mastectomy. I had a little detour last week and had to have emergency appendectomy. I know it is hard to believe right?! Anyway, I was still able to make it to and hold 1st community meeting of the year last night. It was a great meeting!
Unfortunately, I had to take a leave of absence from law school but only for this spring semester, I will be back for summer session. I need to get that law degree so I can personally represent our Peninsula pro bono ( latin: for the public good...translation...no fee!)
I have 3 requests if you are able to help, well 4 actually....
1. Please consider making a donation to our Go Fund Me Account. Any little bit helps and donations have slowed. We are so far from our goal. We need to build up our funds for our continued legal fight concerning over development ( key word is over, we are not opposed to smart development). Anyone who donates is ALWAYS welcome and encouraged to view all of the financials and accounts so you know your donation is 100% going to the cause. https://www.gofundme.com/savethebackriverne
2. Please continue to SHARE our pages with friends to bring awareness to this special place we call home. Visit Turkeypoint.org for additional facts and info. If you don't live here, plan a day outing to experience why we love it here and why we fight to preserve it. There is a lot to do.......water front parks, water front golfing, waterfront dining. Numerous hiking, , and horse trails, fishing, boat ramps, sailing center and beach at Rocky Point. This place is truly a gem!!!
3. Mark your calendars for April 2. Our community Fire Dept is holding their spring pancake breakfast....come experience an old fashion community breakfast gathering..you won't be disappointed. The price is right and it is truly a nice family and community event. Make a day of it and visit one of the nearby beautiful waterfront parks after breakfast. We will post reminders as it gets closer.
Finally #4. Keep me in your prayers! Thanks so much for all of your help!!
In order for us to remain healthy or get back to being healthy...we need to live in a healthy environment...clean waterways, controlling traffic by not over developing, keeping our schools from becoming over crowded. Deviation all adds stress to our lives which makes us sick. Fighting developers and our corrupt county politicians is worse than the stress of law school...believe me.
Our past president Jackie Nickle passed away because of cancer as did our past treasurer Denise Woutila.
Please consider making a donation to continue our fight to preserve the Peninsula and to let everyone know that Jackie and Denise's efforts were not in vain.
Please donate to our Go Fund Me account so I can continue to fight for the peninsula as I begin my own personal fight. Thanks!
