My brother-in-law Kinimo Ngoran was abruptly taken into custody on Wednesday January 23rd after spending years working with ICE/Immigration Service filing the necessary paperwork for legal residency.  He came to the US illegally more than 10 years ago when fleeing from being enslaved in the child militia in Ivory Coast in their ultra violent religious intolerance military.  He has been working and living in the open for the last 10 years trying to get legal status.  He has filed ICE's papers, paid ICE's money, had work approvals from them, and had approval to remain in the US while all the green card processes were processing.  On Wednesday they called him in to pay still another fee, and they arrested him without any warning and immediately sent him from his home with his new wife in Albany, New York to Buffalo and imprisoned him, waiting on deportation.

We need your help.    We need your SIGNATURES on a petition, your VOICES on a calling campaign to the Regional ICE office in NY, and your SOCIAL MEDIA connections to retweet, re-share or post the links to the articles about him to raise awareness and champion for his case.  He has not broken any laws since he has been here.  He has worked honestly and faithfully with ICE and with lawyers to obtain proper status to atone for his method of entering the country.  ICE said he could continue to remain here while he was seeking the permanent status, and he was being monitored by them and was cooperative, remorseful, and honest in his actions over these years.  Nonetheless they abruptly took him into custody without any ability to prepare for it.

PLEASE HELP.   Sign the petition, share his story, call the ICE office in Albany

Today, March 4, ICE decided to release Kinimo with an ankle bracelet to await the disposition of his residency applications without continued detention. He received a postponement of any deportation order and has been reunited with his family in Albany, NY.

While it is not an ending, with residency applications still pending for months and years to come, it is a happy middle and we will appreciate it for what it gives us!

Thank you for your financial support of his case!

On Monday Feb 4th there was a hearing to discuss Kinimo’s deportation case. The judge ordered the case to be adjourned until February 25th while awaiting written arguments. In coming to that order, the judge in today’s hearing ordered Kinimo to remain in ICE custody at the Batavia, NY Detention Center. Kinimo’s family is both relieved at the continued postponement of his possible deportation, but remain committed that we can continue to raise awareness to his case and additional support for his permanent residency.
