The Hackensack Pier is a beautiful place to watch the sun set in Hackensack. This area is one of 'the' spots in our tiny town, close to the statue of Lucette. It is home to the Hackensack Children's Fishing Contest, a beautiful garden, and a martin birdhouse.
The peninsula structure was built about 30 years ago and is now in desperate need of repair. The wall that holds the earth up and out of the water is called a sea wall and it is crumbling apart. The pillars have deteriorated away or into sharp spikes. Anchor cables are exposed and rusty. The earth at the wall edges is sinking back into the lake and holes are forming.
If you have ever witnessed a sunset at this location, been involved in tending the garden, participated in the Hackensack Children's Fishing Contest or any other activity at this spot, please consider helping us to fix the sea wall so future generations can do these same activities.
We are gathering funds with hopes to begin work in the Fall of 2018. With your support, we can make this happen.
