Save the Armor Shop's Roof!

The Armor Shop in Chico, California is a public maker-space dedicated to teaching ordinary people how to build and maintain medieval armor, weapons and shields. Since 2002, James and Hilarie Cornwell have been opening up their property so everyone from serious medieval re-enactors to elementary school children could be trained to make chain-mail, assemble helmets, hammer rivets, make straps and set buckles, all for just whatever cash the public has felt like dropping into their small donation box. If all that weren't enough, the Armor Shop supports one of the most comprehensive and extensive lending-libraries of loaner armor anywhere, so the public can try out medieval combat training for themselves without having to buy it all first!

Unfortunately, the Shop's roof has been deteriorating badly for years, and now it rains freely into the spaces where the anvils, work-tables and tool chests are kept! The best estimate we've been able to get for replacing the roof of the Armor Shop is about $5000, and we've already put down a deposit so our fabulous workers can get started this week (11/12/2016), but we need your help to get the work done.

Please consider giving whatever you can so we can save a great historical institution, and a brilliant maker-space for all ages, from total destruction.
(UPDATE 11/14/2016: We're already at close to $1000, so we need to talk about stretch goals! The east wall of the shop was damaged in a fire several years ago, so if we make our initial $5000 goal, the first stretch goal will be $6000, so we can get the fire damage repaired at the same time! Let's get it done, friends!)
