More information about Friends of the South Bend Public Library: We support the maintenance and repair of the historic 1913 Carnegie library in rural South Bend, WA and sponsor library programs, such as the children's Summer Reading Program. Our library was closed in August 2018 due to presence of mold, lead paint and asbestos. The abatement work required by state authorities is almost complete and the library will reopen soon.
However, there are still $100,000 in structural repairs required to ensure the building is safe and can remain open.
