Save a homeless DV survivor's car

Donation protected
Linda has been living in a car in north London for more than a year. The council have repeatedly refused to house her because they say she is not a priority. They have now put a wheel-clamp on her car and said they are going to tow it away (and crush it) because the road tax and insurance have expired.

Linda has no money to sort out the car paperwork – she lives off £20 a week which she earns working for a small charity. She does not receive any state benefits.

She became homeless when she split from her violent and abusive ex-husband, who won custody of her children by lying about her and manipulating the courts.

She has been struggling to repair her life and get her children back ever since.

She has been street homeless in the past and is very scared of returning to this.

Being street homeless is particularly dangerous for women, who are at increased risk of violence and sexual assault.

A recent Channel 4 documentary exposed Barnet council, and others, for turning away vulnerable women who are entitled to housing.

In the long run, Linda wants to find a room to live in, and to get a solicitor to help her get her children back, any extra money we raise will go towards this. But right now the priority is just to keep her off the streets by saving her car. It is absolutely vital we manage this!

In order to stop the council towing it, we need to pay for road tax, insurance, and £200 to have the wheel clamp removed.

Any amount you can donate will be really, really appreciated - please help!
