Save Holy Hill is a Berkeley, California, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the preservation of the unique architectural and open space resources of Holy Hill. Holy Hill is the open space between Virginia St and Le Conte Ave and Arch St and Scenic Ave which was created when the Pacific School of Religion was allowed by the City of Berkeley to convert part of Ridge Road from a public road into a pedestrian path and courtyard to serve as the central open space for its campus. The City of Berkeley provided for the conversion of Ridge Road so that the open space and views in the public right of way could be used by all members of the public. Over time, Pacific School of Religion developed a number of architecturally significant buildings on the site. Save Holy Hill seeks to ensure the preservation of the historical character of the buildings and open space on Holy Hill for the benefit of the community. We promote the creative reuse of the existing historic Holy Hill structures for such purposes as Pacific School of Religion sees fit in a manner that retains the historical character of the existing buildings and provides for the public’s access to the open space and views originally contributed by the public to Pacific School of Religion's creation.

While we hope that our collective voices can persuade the City to do the right thing, we are realistic that we will need the help of lawyers, architects, historians and other experts. Your donation will allow us to get started with the work that will be required. Several neighbors have made an initial commitment, but we are still well below the level of funding required to mount an effective opposition. Please consider donating today, and share this with your neighbors. Thank you, and much love!
