I'm raising this money so that I can attend the two week Commission on the Status of Women Conference at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
I have been chosen as one of the UN Delegates to represent Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland. This is an amazing honor for which I am truly grateful!
I am going to be a Delegate because I believe in going as far as possible, doing as much as possible, and changing as much as possible when it comes to my mission of making lasting change in Women's Issues. This position gives me the opportunity to broaden my spectrum of influence, working on a global scale as well as local and national. Not only will I be able to create change, but I will also be learning about other cultures, learning about the struggles faced by those abroad and growing my professional network. These benefits will come full circle in improving my organization, Sarah Speaks Up.
I created Sarah Speaks Up to encourage, empower, strengthen & support victims and survivors of domestic violence through education, awareness, and programs. With this organization I guide people through the "leaving process", giving referrals to local resources and agencies. I created the Veterans For Victims Program and the Fresh Start Program (for more information, please view the Sarah Speaks Up website). In October of 2017, I published my first book, Hiding In Plain Sight, A Glimpse Into The Reality of Domestic Violence. For my work in the DV field, I have earned several accolades such as the Women of Inspiration and Forty Under 40 Awards, among others.
With the funds collected here, I will cover the costs of travel, childcare, room & board, food, two weeks lost wages and misc. needs. If I am able to raise enough, a portion of the money will be used for SarahSpeaksUp.org overhead costs.
Please help me represent the Soroptimist International Organization and Sarah Speaks Up with passion, dedication, and honor. I promise to pay your contribution forward in all the work I continue to do.
