Help the SMRA Stay Open for 2016

After 21 successful years the Selkirk Model Railroad Association (SMRA) needs your help. As a result of the loss of several of our members and also unexpected expenses, we are faced with the real possibility of closing our doors and dismantling our model train layouts as early as Janury 2016.
We need additional funds to cover a shortfall in our operating expenses such as: rent, insurance, maintenance, and other contingencies as they arise.
The Selkirk Model Railroad Association operates one of the largest sets of permanent model train layouts in Canada. We have four layouts: one O-scale, one HO-scale, and two N-scale. We also have a comprehensive library of railroad related materials and inventory of model railroad rolling stock.
In addition to Model Railroading, the SMRA has acted as a service organization for the City of Selkirk. For example, we have raised food and monetary donations worth thousands of dollars over the past 20 years for the City of Selkirk Christmas Hamper Drive. The SMRA also acts as a youth mentorship agency and offers a detailed program for junior members which has been received well in our community. The SMRA has also forged relationships with several Selkirk youth organizations such as Sea Cadets and Cub Scouts.
The demise of the SMRA will be a significant loss not only to its members, but to the Selkirk and District Community at large.
We need your support at this time to enable us to continue to operate the SMRA in 2016 . If we do not reach our financial goals, we will have to initiate the dissoulution of the club in January 2016 .
