Kara's Amazon Trip with Me to We!

Hello! My name is Kara Thompson and I live in Ontario, Canada, I am 16 years old, love traveling and helping make a difference in the world.
Next summer (2017), I want to take the trip of a lifetime to Ecuador (at the basin of the Amazon Rainforest) with an internationally-recognized organization called Me to We. Me to We offers safe, interactive, and life-changing trips to youth who want to get out of their comfort zones and make differences first-hand, wherever they choose to visit.
There are many reasons why I have chosen to volunteer with Me to We, and on their Amazon trip specifically:
I love immersing myself in new cultures, communities, and experiencing life like locals do. With the Amazon trip, my group of like-minded youth will stay in a Minga Lodge, where we will visit an indigenous community along with local families. Here we will learn the native Kichwa language, try weaving traditional crafts, and help in the building of a school or clean water project, which leads me to my next point:
I love traveling with a purpose, and volunteering abroad to assist with the betterment of a local community will help me feel like I am a valuable piece of the puzzle that is helping make the world a safer, healthier, and more enjoyable place; even for those who are less fortunate.
In addition, I truly have a raw thirst for adventure and travel. On top of everything else, Me to We ensures that if you go on a trip, you will make life-long memories with the youth you are traveling with. Specifically on the Amazon trip, I would take a rainforest hike, visit the country's capital, Quito, and even take a tour of a local cacao farm!
Any and every dollar I recieve will be put towards helping me reach my goal of traveling to the Amazon, including all flights, accommodation, gear, food, etc,.
Because I wish to take this trip next summer, I realize that reaching my goal may not be seen as urgent as other causes, and I completely understand. But, with that said, the final payment for the trip will be paid three months in advance, so any progress I am able to make now will be less stressful later on.
To anyone who chooses to donate or helps spread my message: my thankfulness will be infinite.
I am extremely excited for what I can give on this trip, and what I will return with: global awareness, a desire to make further differences both locally and internationally, and an even more increased case of wanderlust (no problem!)
