November 29, 2015 there was an ADF rebel attack in Eringeti, Democratic Republic of Congo. We are filming a documnetary about the attack and Peacekeeping in the DRC in the hospital and in the town where this occurred. As you will read patients were killed in there beds as well as nursing staff. Some did survive to tell the story. A Malawian Peacekeeper was killed. After their rampage they destroyed the hospital and kidnapped many small children. As a result of this violence 20,000 people fled to live in IDP refugee camp s approximately 15 kilometers North. I met with their camp leaders yesterday. According to them, the most important reason they fled was to protect their children from being taken. Safety in numbers. When we film there in 12 days time I am hoping to deliver some much needed items to each individual family. A wash bucket with washing soap, bath soap, salt and sugar. ... There are 615 family tents with an average of 8-10 people per tent. total cost per family $7.78. The doctor who runs the hospital and survived the attack has asked for 50 bedding sets consisting of 2sheets pillow case and blanket at a cost of $44 per bed. Lots of you ask what you can do well here is an opportunity for immediate desperate need and hand delivered confirmation in a few weeks time. Total for all $6111. If we raise more I will give soccer balls and jump ropes to both the IDP camps and the school next door to the hospital and add items to each bucket. I just slept 6 days in tents in the Peacekeeping camps nearby, bathing in buckets and cannot imagine not having these basic items to maintain hygiene for personal dignity.
