Pipeline Protester Supply Mission

I am shocked.  I am upset.  I am angry.  I am done standing on the sidelines and doing nothing.

I am going to do something, and I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP.

Next week, I am spending my 40th birthday weekend travelling to Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota to personally bring severely needed supplies to people who are freezing, suffering and being subjected to outrageous actions by a militarized police force while they peacefully protest to protect what is all of our water supply.

It's not about the water.  It's not about their land. It's about the PEOPLE.

What's happening out there is absolutely crazy.  It's completely F'd.   I'm going to help.

Every dollar you donate will go to supplies I am going to personally buy and deliver.  I will even persoanlly put in the extra 7.5% of your donation this site takes to make sure we can get the maximum amount of supplies.   I have set a goal, please help me go way past that.

A lot of you have asked me what I am doing for my 40th, well this is it.

ANYONE WHO WANTS TO COME WITH ME IS INVITED.   I will be there from 12/2-12/6 (barring any logisital needs to reschedule).  Big shout out to DARIUS, LUX, JUSTENE AND DAWN for coming on the trip.  Every voice and set of hands is needed.

Please contact me at [email redacted] if you are interested in joining - every set of hands helps.  You do not need to be in harm's way to help.  I seriously hope some of you join me. I may be able to get some people plane tickets if you're short on resources, please let me know.

My grandmother always told me if you want something done right, do it yourself - so do it myself I will...

I am personally going to purchase these supplies and deliver them into the hands of the people who need them.

How will it work?

I'm flying to Bismarck, renting an SUV, going to the camp, finding out what they need, driving to a Wal-mart and/or an Outdor Sports store and I am buying stuff. Then I am bringing  the stuff to the people. And I will make as many trips to that store as I can, until I'm out of $.  The more $ we raise, the more I can buy.  It's that simple.   It's not complicated.  It's help.  I encourage anyone else with the time, initiative or resources to get involved and do the same.

Those who know me know I am a 3/4 cup empty person, I see the world in a unique way.  I do not believe in donating to anonymous charities where they siphon off administration costs, or sending supplies to groups that keep rather than distribute them.  This is not part of an organization, this is not a virtual check-in effort, I am not sending anyone a check.  Nobody has asked me to do this.  I'm just doing what's right and hope you will help.

We live in America.  A place where you are supposed to be able to protest peacefully, and not be attacked for doing so.   For those who have not been following the protest of the Dakota Pipeline by the Sioux nation and their supporters, let me summarize what is happening:
  - The Pipeline is being built on the Standing Rock Reservation with little concern for, nor the approval of people living there.
 - The Sioux, in addition to protecting their sacred land, are trying to protect both their own, and everyone south of the reservation's water supply as the pipeline is being run right through the Missouri River.
 - The companies behind the pipeline, have hired a professional security army, who along with militarized local and state police, have used ATTACK DOGS, RUBBER BULLETS, FREEZING WATER CANNONS, FLASH GRENADES & WORSE in an effort to move these peaceful protestors off their land.

THIS DOES NOT SIT WELL WITH ME.

I will not begin to act as an authority of the enviromental impact of the pipeline.  I do not know the impact, nor do I care.  I care that a commercial interest is being put before the welfare of harmless, peaceful citizens. Citizens who have had their rights stripped away for hundreds of year.   We are not in an oil crisis.  We do not have escalating energy prices.  In fact, oil is so cheap ,the energy companies will not spend $ to develop alternatie energy sources, or go after "expensive" oil untl prices rise.  BUT THEY WILL TREAT THESE PEOPLE LIKE CRIMINALS AND ANIMALS.  This is unacceptable.

Everyone who knows me knows I sit on the conservative side of most matters.  Whatever you think, whatever I think - this is just flat out wrong.

I'm going to visit the camps, find out what they need, and go get it for them.  Sleeping bags, hot packs, lanterns, food, water, medical supplies  - the things we all take for granted.   These people are freezing out there.

I'm also going to do what I can to learn their personal stories and share it with my network, and make this more than a random news story or facebook post.  It will come from someone you know who has seen it first hand.  I don't expect this to be easy, I don't expect a medal.  I just want to bring help, and shed light on what is happening out there.

I hope you will help me on this trip, and that I will inspire others to help even more in the future.

Happy Birthday to Me....
