Running for James-2019 Boston Marathon
Donation protected
I am honored to be representing The JL11 Fund and humbled to be running the 123rd Boston Marathon in James Luti’s memory. James Luti was a talented defenseman for the Stoneham High ice hockey team. I was one of his coaches. Like countless other teens, James battled anxiety and adolescent depression. Although loved deeply by his family, friends and teammates its was not enough for him to overcome his pain. James Luti took his own life on November 29, 2017. During the weeks and months following James’ death, an out pouring of support through different social media platforms swelled. These notes of love all ended with a simple hashtag JL11. James’ initials and the number he wore for the Spartan hockey team. From that hashtag the JL11 Fund was born. The JL11 Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports teens and young adults struggling with mental health.
Following James’ devastating passing the coaching staff at Stoneham High asked his teammates to honor his memory with their actions on and off the ice. Now, I do the same by running Boston. Thank you for supporting the JL11Fund. For James! #JL11
