Run For Our Rights is a grassroots Madison road race organized to raise money and awareness for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. Our goal is to support the fundamental human right to affordable, comprehensive, and confidential reproductive health care in Wisconsin. Given our politicians either can't or won't act to make this happen, we will.
We are using GoFundMe to cover the up front costs to get the race organized. All proceeds above and beyond the race costs will go directly to Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.
We don't have any sponsors, we're not professional fundraisers, political activists or even remotely decent runners. We're just a Madisonian couple who dragged our three children out of school, threw them in the back of a rented SUV and drove across the country to DC recently, to rock our pink hats and have our voices heard. We realized while on the drive home that we had to do more, that if we aren't brave enough to stand up for what we believe in today, we will likely loose the chance to enjoy those rights tomorrow. So if we can raise the whole $10k by July, and register 1000 runners, we will be able to donate $40k to PP of Wisconsin. That's a lot of money that will go to support women's health services, emergency contraception, STD testing, HIV testing and counseling, mens sexual health services and counseling for gender identity and sexual orientation.
Please help us provide a positive voice in the chorus of uncertain fears right now. We want all Wisconsinites to feel safe, supported and powerful.
