Run for Adam's Camp

Donation protected
I hate running. I've always hated running. You can ask my conditioning coach Eric Telly about how much I complained every time he fired up the treadmill. I threatened to dismantle that thing on an almost daily basis.

That's why me running a marathon is a big deal. That's right – on October 18th, I will be running 26.2 miles consecutively. Why? I don't know. Because I'm an idiot. Because I said I could. Because I'd like to raise some money for my favorite charity, I guess.

Adam's Camp was founded almost thirty years ago by close family friends of ours, the Horneys. Yes, that is their real name. Adam Horney was born with cerebral palsy, and was told at five years of age that he would be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. After only five days of intensive therapy, Adam took his first step with the aid of a walker. Today, Adam is 34 years old, and lives and works on his own.

Adam's Camp is a summer camp for children and young adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilities ranging from Down syndrome and cerebral palsy to autism. Campers ride horses, climb walls, canoe, raft, and more alongside trained therapists, professionals, and volunteers. It's a wonderful program, and many campers have been attending camp every summer for twenty years or more.

So, in closing... I'm going to go run for four and a half hours or so, while you guys run up your tab. Even if it's just five bucks, hook it up for a great cause.
